SERIKALI YA MAREKANI YAZINDUA MRADI WA DOLA MILIONI 14.5 WA KULINDA MAZINGIRA, KUKUZA UHIFADHI NA UTALII NCHINI TANZANIA

Serikali ya Marekani kwa kupitia shirika la ushirikiano wa kimataifa (USAID) imezindua rasmi mradi wa miaka mitano wa kulinda mazingira na kukuza uhifadhi wa utalii wa dolla za kimarekani milioni14.5 hapa nchini ujulikanao kama PROTECT=PROJECT.
Uzinduzi huu ambao umefanyika ndani ya eneo la hifadhi ya wanyamapori linalosimamiwa na jumuiya ya uhifadhi ya wanyamapori (WMA) la Randilen linalopakana na hifadhi ya taifa tarangire Wilayani Monduli mkoani Arusha, Balozi wa Marekani nchini Tanzania, Mark Childress amesema mradi huu unalenga kujenga uwezo wa uhifadhi na kukabiliana na ujangili na usafirishaji haramu wa wanyamapori nchini kote Tanzania.
Balozi Mark amesema mradi wa PROTECT utalenga kutoa ufumbuzi wa muda mfupi kwa tatizo kubwa lililopo sasa la ujangili huku likiweka misingi ya mafanikioya muda mrefu katika vita dhidi ya ujangili sanjari na kuhimiza ushirikiano kati ya jumuiya za kiraia.
Amesema mradi huu pia utatoa ruzuku ya miaka mitano ya dola za kimarekani 2.75 milioni kwa jamii inayozunguka hifadhi kwa lengo la kuwajengea uwezo wa kusimamia raslimali hizo.
Aidha balozi ametangaza mradi mpya wa dola 14 milioni za kimarekani unaotarajiwa kuzinduliwa hivi karibuni utakaoshughulikia maeneo ya bayoanuai zilizopo katika hatari ya kutoweka katika ukanda wa kaskazini mwa Tanzania utakao fahamika kama Endangered Ecosystems Northern Tanzania project kwa lengo la kupambana na ujangili. kutoa msaada ya moja kwa moja kwa MWA ,jamii na wadau katika sekta ya utalii ili kuboresha usimamizi wa wanyamapori.
Kwa upande wa Waziri wa Maliasili na Utalii, Lazaro Nyalandu baada ya uzinduzi na kusaini mkataba amesema kumekuwa na uvamizi mkubwa katika maeneo ya hifadhi za taifa na kusema kuna mpango makakati wa kuhakikisha njia zote zinafunguliwa ili kuwezesha wanyamapori wote kuwa huru kuzunguka katika hifadhi zote nchini.
Pia amewataka wana jamii wa maeneo ya hifadhi ya jumuiya ya WMA Randilen kukaa na uongozi wa hifadhi na kutatua changamoto zilizopo.
